Don’t Sweat It— Prevent Intertrigo

Perspiration in areas of skin redundancy-- such as under pendulous breasts and in the groin--can predispose patients to irritant or candidal intertrigo. Preventive measures include drying well after bathing and applying powder and an underarm antiperspirant to problem areas. The aluminum chloride found in antiperspirants (but not deodorants) can help control excess perspiration and can reduce the number of episodes of painful, pruritic rash.
