my concern is "knock-off" and contaminated products. Who does the quality assurance. I have seen some great variation in products and I worry about this market.

Dr Shanahan responds:

"I am more familiar with products in Europe but the one probiotic brand that I have worked with and know something about its manufacturers is the Align probiotic which is widely available in the USA and is produced by the Procter & Gamble Co. This is a good brand from a reputable company."
