By S. Charles Schulz II, MD | November 8, 2012

early stage schizophrenia

There has been substantial interest lately on the early stages of schizophrenia and the effects of untreated psychosis. Clinical trials have focused on medications for first episode, assessments of adverse effects, and “care paths” for the early/prodromal stage of psychosis.

In this podcast, Charles Schulz discusses some practical approaches and challenges of treating young persons with early stage schizophrenia. He is scheduled to speak at the US Psychiatric and Mental Health Congress in San Diego on Sunday, November 11, from 2:15 to 3:45 PM. Dr Schulz is Professor and Head of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Minnesota Medical School, Minneapolis.
