While existing guidelines identify key metabolic risk factors, concerns exist regarding their ability to adequately account for the physiologic changes women experience across the lifespan, particularly during transitions like menopause and pregnancy that significantly influence disease progression.

Current MASLD screening guidelines effectively identify at-risk populations but may not fully account for sex-specific risk across a woman’s lifespan.
