The American Society of Nephrology (ASN) annual meeting, Kidney Week 2026, runs October 21–25 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver. IgA nephropathy (IgAN) is a major focus of this year's late-breaking program, with phase 3 data involving 6 therapies, alongside new research in dialysis, kidney transplantation, and chronic kidney disease (CKD).¹,²
The HCPLive team will be on-site throughout the meeting, with planned interviews featuring investigators behind 8 late-breaking studies, alongside new episodes of Kidney Compass, our on-camera video podcast hosted by Shikha Wadhwani, MD, MS, and Brendon Neuen, MBBS, PhD.
From emerging IgAN therapies to hemodialysis access, transplant outcomes, and depression treatment in CKD, the selected presentations address questions across nephrology practice. Late-breaking results remain under embargo until their scheduled presentations, so check back throughout the week for HCPLive's full ASN Kidney Week 2026 coverage.
ASN Kidney Week 2026 FAQ
When and Where is ASN Kidney Week 2026?
October 21–25, 2026, at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colorado. Early Programs begin October 21, followed by the Annual Meeting October 22–25.¹
When Are The Late-Breakers Presented?
Thursday, October 22, through Saturday, October 24. Featured trials appear in the Opening Plenary (Thursday, 8:00–9:30 am MT) and the High-Impact Clinical Trials session (Friday, 10:30 am–12:30 pm MT). Late-breaking oral sessions run each afternoon from 4:30–6:00 pm MT, and a late-breaking poster session takes place Thursday from 10:00 am–12:00 pm MT. Full abstracts will be posted on the ASN website on the day of each presentation.²
Where Can I Follow HCPLive's coverage?
Through HCPLive's ASN Kidney Week 2026 conference coverage, on-site investigator interviews, and new episodes of Kidney Compass.
8 Late-Breaking Studies to Watch
1. ORIGIN 3: Atacicept in IgA Nephropathy
Presenter: Jonathan Barratt, MD, PhD
Presentation Time: 9:05 am MT, Thursday, October 22
A year after ORIGIN 3 set the stage for atacicept at Kidney Week, and months after its FDA accelerated approval, the phase 3 trial returns to the Opening Plenary with its final efficacy analysis. Barratt will join Kidney Compass to discuss the findings and their implications for IgAN treatment.
2. A Tissue-Engineered Vessel vs Arteriovenous Fistula in Women on Hemodialysis
Featured Investigator: Prabir Roy-Chaudhury, MD, PhD
Presentation Time: 4:42 pm MT, Thursday, October 22
Earlier this year, an acellular tissue-engineered vessel increased catheter-free time in women on dialysis. An interim analysis of the phase 3 CLN-PRO-V012 randomized controlled trial compares the vessel with an arteriovenous fistula for hemodialysis access in women with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD). HCPLive will sit down with Roy-Chaudhury to discuss the findings and their implications for vascular access.
3. Pregnancy Outcomes After Living Kidney Donation
Presenter: Amit X. Garg, MD, PhD
Presentation Time: 5:30 pm MT, Thursday, October 22
For potential living kidney donors who hope to have children, pregnancy-related risks are an important consideration during donor counseling. Garg will join HCPLive to discuss his team's new research on pregnancy outcomes after living kidney donation and how the findings may inform counseling for prospective donors.
4. Imlifidase in Crossmatch-Positive Deceased-Donor Kidney Transplants
Presenter: Oriol Bestard, MD, PhD
Presentation Time: 11:15 am MT, Friday, October 23
For highly sensitized patients, a positive crossmatch can limit access to a compatible donor kidney. The open-label Post-Authorization Efficacy and Safety (PAES) trial reports on 50 imlifidase-enabled, crossmatch-positive deceased-donor kidney transplants in Europe. HCPLive will speak with Bestard about the findings and what they could mean for transplant access in highly sensitized patients.
5. Vadadustat Three Times Weekly for Anemia in Hemodialysis
Presenter: Shuchi Anand, MD, MS
Presentation Time: 12:00 pm MT, Friday, October 23
Following FDA approval of vadadustat for anemia of CKD in adults receiving dialysis, new research evaluates an alternative, three-times-weekly dosing regimen in patients undergoing hemodialysis. Anand joins Kidney Compass to discuss the trial findings and their relevance to anemia management.
6. Acute Treatment of Hyperkalemia in the Emergency Department
Presenter: Emmanuel Montassier, MD, PhD
Presentation Time: 4:30 pm MT, Friday, October 23
Hyperkalemia can require urgent intervention, but approaches to acute treatment vary. A randomized trial will examine treatment strategies in the emergency department. HCPLive will speak with Montassier about the results and their implications for acute hyperkalemia management.
7. CONCORD: Novel Therapies for Depression in Patients With CKD
Presenter: Susan Hedayati, MD, MHSc
Presentation Time: 4:54 pm MT, Friday, October 23
Recent research has suggested a bidirectional relationship between depression and CKD progression. HCPLive will sit down with Hedayati to discuss CONCORD, a randomized controlled trial evaluating novel therapies for depression in patients with CKD, and what the findings may mean for addressing mental health in kidney care.
8. Empagliflozin in Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease
Presenter: Stephen L. Seliger, MD, MS
Presentation Time: 4:42 pm MT, Saturday, October 24
Sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors have reshaped CKD care, but their role in autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) remains uncertain. Seliger joins Kidney Compass to discuss a feasibility randomized controlled trial of empagliflozin in ADPKD and how the findings could inform future research in this population.
Also Coming From Denver
HCPLive will also feature investigator interviews on SGLT2 inhibitors in Alport syndrome, upacicalcet for secondary hyperparathyroidism, home dialysis, pediatric sepsis-associated acute kidney injury (AKI), and more.
